Work With Me
Helping people find their voice through comedy, communication, and connection.
Whether we're working one-on-one, in a classroom, or from a conference stage, my work is rooted in the same belief:
Awareness precedes expression.
The more we understand ourselves, the more honestly we can communicate with others.
Through coaching, workshops, and speaking, I help comedians, performers, educators, leaders, and creative teams develop stronger communication, greater presence, and the confidence to trust their own perspective.
I don't believe great performers are the loudest people in the room.
I think they're the most aware.
My coaching isn't about becoming someone else. It's about becoming more intentional about who you already are.
Together we'll explore your voice, your point of view, your relationship to an audience, and the habits that either support or interfere with authentic expression. We'll work on:
Finding your comedic point of view
Writing stronger, more personal material
Understanding your performance habits
Stage presence and communication
Reading the room without chasing it
Nervous system regulation under pressure
Trusting your instincts
Preparing for performances, auditions, and career-defining moments
My goal isn't to make you sound like me.
It's to help you understand yourself well enough that no one else could sound like you.

Honoring Your Nervous System as a Creative
A live virtual lecture & Q+A exploring the relationship between performance, creativity, burnout, audience dynamics, and nervous system regulation.
For years, performers have been taught that exhaustion is proof of dedication. Hustle culture, chronic overexposure, and the pressure to constantly produce have created an environment where burnout is mistaken for commitment to the craft.
In this lecture, comedian and performer Christi Somers examines the hidden physiological realities of performing: what happens to the body under observation, how protective identities develop on stage, why performers dissociate, and how nervous system regulation can create more freedom, presence, and sustainability in creative work.
Blending personal stories from over 20+ years in the NYC comedy scene with practical insight and interactive exercises, The Nervous System of Performance invites creatives to rethink their relationship with their art.
Topics include:
• Hustle culture and other performance mythology
• Burnout, grief, and creative exhaustion
• Audience dynamics and stage presence
• Activation vs. overwhelm
• Protective performance identities
• Sustainable creativity practices
• Regulation, recovery, and artistic longevity
The more regulated a performer becomes, the more freedom they actually have on stage.

Where Comedy Meets Communication
Comedy is more than entertainment. It's one of the most powerful ways to understand ourselves, connect with others, and communicate with intention.
Drawing from over twenty years as a professional comedian, educator, and speaker, I create workshops that use comedy, storytelling, and performance to help people become more aware of themselves, more present with others, and more confident expressing their ideas.
Whether I'm working with students, artists, educators, or corporate teams, the goal is the same: helping people communicate with greater authenticity.
Participants don't just learn how to be funny. They learn how to listen, adapt, trust themselves, and connect with the people in front of them.

How I Teach
Comedy isn't just about jokes. It's about attention.
The performers I admire most aren't simply funny. They're aware. They notice what's happening in themselves, in the room, and in the relationship between the two.
That's what I teach.
Together, we'll notice where you pull away from your authentic voice, where your instincts are already working, and where fear, self-consciousness, or habit might be getting in the way.
My goal isn't to give you a version of yourself to perform.
It's to help you better understand the one that's already there.
My teaching is rooted in awareness, curiosity, presence, and intentionality. I ask a lot of questions. I encourage experimentation. And I believe that lasting growth comes from understanding why something works, not simply being told what to do.
After more than twenty years as a performer and educator, I've become deeply attuned to what feels alive, what feels protected, and what helps people genuinely connect.
My role is to help you trust your own voice, so that when you step on stage, into a meeting, or in front of a classroom, you're communicating from a place that feels honest, grounded, and unmistakably yours.
Let’s work together!
Whether you’re building a set, finding your voice, preparing for a big moment, or simply ready to communicate with more confidence, I’d love to hear what you’re working on.
Tell me where you are, where you want to go, and we’ll figure out the best way to get there.
Please fill out this form & I will be in touch!
