Comedy Meets Connection

I use comedy to help people talk like they mean it, connect like they feel it, and trust their own voice — onstage and off.

My work focuses on presence — staying in your body, regulating your nervous system, and not leaving yourself when the room goes quiet.

Because the goal isn’t to perform at an audience. It’s to be in relationship with them.

With 20+ years in stand-up comedy, I perform on national stages, write for some of the biggest comedians working today, and speak about what it takes to stay when all eyes are on you. I work with comedians, artists, and professionals who want a stronger presence and a voice they can trust — anywhere they’re being seen.

Sunday July 12th, 6pm Joe’s Pub, New York City

What shapes us? What breaks us? And how do we turn it into something worth laughing about?

Christi Somers, praised by The New York Times as “very funny” and named a “must-see” by Time Out New York, returns to Joe’s Pub with a new hour of comedy. She dives into the chaos of childhood, the heartbreak of loss, the contradictions of faith, and the ridiculous beauty of simply surviving. With a mix of sharp writing, theatrical turns, and a kind of honesty that doesn’t stay tidy, her work sits somewhere between stand-up and something more immediate.

“Very Funny.”

— The New York Times

What People Are Saying

“I still remember the first time I saw Christi perform, and in a world of what seems like 9 million stand up comedians, being memorable is a feat in itself. Authentic, endearing and one of a kind, Christi is a stand out as both a comedian and person.”

— Janelle James, Abbott Elementary

“Christi Somers is by far the best stand-up comedy teacher there is. Period.”

— Nicole Byer, Netflix's Nailed It & Big Beautiful Weirdo

“Christi’s class was the single best thing I have done for my comedy. Christi created such a warm and encouraging dynamic that I was able to grow in leaps with her support. My comedy is so much funnier and so much more me because of Christi’s joyful, warm and wise teaching.”

Abby Wambaugh, Winner of ‘Best Newcomer’ Edinburgh Fringe ‘24 & Hannah Gadsby Present's 'The First 3 Minutes of 17 Shows.'

“I LOVE Christi. She’s hilarious, inspiring & actually gives a damn about people.”

— Matteo Lane, Internationally Touring Comedian seen on Netflix & Hulu

“Christi’s class was one of the best experiences I’ve had and I can’t recommend her enough. She had incredible course material, and real world knowledge to provide based on her work as a touring comedian. Her notes and guidance helped to take my comedy to the next level and I am forever grateful for her encouragement along the way.”
